Groundbreaking of 600MW Solar PV Project in Kinshasa
On August 19th 2020, we were in Kinshasa to attend the official groundbreaking ceremony of Sunplus Solarcity, with the first of a series of solar PV projects to be built throughout the province of Kinshasa in DRC. In total, 1,000MW of solar PV projects will be developed by Sunplus over the coming years. This is a significant milestone in the economic development of DRC, especially for the relatively new government under President Félix Tshisekedi, and for André Kimbuta Yango, the governor of Kinshasa.
Sunplus, founded by Dr Rubar Sandi, our non-executive chairman, along with his American holding company TSG Global Holdings, and its Indonesian affiliate TSG Utama Indonesia, will together lead a consortium of Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises to develop DRC over the coming years.
In fact, during the week of the groundbreaking in Kinshasa, the TSG led delegation of Indonesian stakeholders have signed a series of MOUs with the DRC government and the province of Kinshasa to develop several strategic national infrastructure projects, which Titan Global will assist with the fund raising.
